"Dedicated to Lowering Healthcare Costs for Every Citizen": Indian PM Modi

Bhopal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi reiterated the Central government's dedication to reducing healthcare costs for all citizens, particularly benefiting economically weaker sections. Speaking on Sunday, he emphasized the government's mission to make medical treatment more affordable, a concern that had been largely unaddressed before 2014.

“Our government is resolute in bringing down treatment expenses for all citizens. With Ayushman cards, eligible individuals can avail medical coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh,” PM Modi stated while laying the foundation stone for the Bageshwar Dham Medical and Science Research Institute in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatapur district.

He acknowledged the role of religious institutions in promoting both healthcare and spiritual well-being, citing Chitrakoot as a significant example. “Visitors to Bageshwar Dham will receive the blessings of 'Aarogya' (good health),” he added.

Highlighting recent initiatives, PM Modi announced that Ayushman cardholders aged 70 and above are now eligible for free medical treatment up to Rs 5 lakh. Urging people to avail themselves of the scheme, he encouraged citizens to report any instances of corruption or bribery in the issuance of Ayushman cards directly to him.

During his visit, PM Modi received blessings from spiritual leaders and prayed at Jatashankar Mahadev temple.

As part of efforts to enhance healthcare infrastructure, a cancer hospital worth over Rs 200 crore is set to be established, offering state-of-the-art treatment facilities and free care for underprivileged patients.

PM Modi’s two-day visit to Madhya Pradesh includes engagements in Bhopal, where he will chair a key meeting with BJP leaders at Kushabhau Thakare Auditorium. The session will be attended by MPs, MLAs, and senior party functionaries, with discussions focusing on the state's development.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed enthusiasm about the Prime Minister’s visit, highlighting the opportunity to receive valuable insights and guidance. Notably, PM Modi will also become the first Indian Prime Minister to stay overnight at Raj Bhavan in Bhopal—a historic moment for the state.

On Monday, he will inaugurate the Global Investors Summit (GIS) 2025 in Bhopal, a significant event aimed at positioning Madhya Pradesh as an international investment hub. The summit will feature dedicated sessions on key sectors such as pharmaceuticals, logistics, tourism, and MSMEs. Additionally, it will host discussions with global stakeholders, including representatives from over 60 countries, industry leaders, and policymakers.

Three large industrial exhibitions will run alongside the summit. The auto show will highlight Madhya Pradesh’s advancements in the automotive sector, while the textile and fashion expo will showcase the state’s rich heritage in traditional and modern textile manufacturing. The ‘One District-One Product’ (ODOP) Village will further celebrate regional craftsmanship and local artistry.

With high-profile participants and strategic sessions, GIS 2025 is poised to open new doors for investment and economic growth in Madhya Pradesh.
