The Holy See Press Office has reported that Pope Francis’ health continues to improve, with medical assessments confirming the progress made in recent days. However, due to the severity of the infection that led to his hospitalization, the Pope will need to remain under medical care for a longer period.
In a statement released on Monday evening, the Holy See Press Office confirmed that Pope's condition remains stable. "The improvements recorded in previous days have been further consolidated, as confirmed by both blood tests and clinical findings, as well as by Pope’s good response to pharmacological therapy," the statement read. Given this progress, doctors have lifted their guarded prognosis but emphasized that continued hospital treatment remains necessary.
Despite his hospitalization, Pope Francis actively participated in the annual Spiritual Exercises of the Roman Curia via video link. On Monday morning, he followed the session from his private apartment, received the Eucharist, and spent time in prayer in his chapel. He also joined the afternoon session remotely, balancing periods of prayer and rest throughout the day.
The Roman Curia’s Spiritual Exercises, held annually during Lent, began on Sunday afternoon in the Paul VI Hall and are being led this year by Fr. Roberto Pasolini, OFM Cap, the Preacher of the Papal Household.
The Vatican continues to monitor Pope Francis’ recovery, with further updates expected in the coming days.
