Pope Francis Reflects on the Transfiguration and Signs of Hope Amidst Suffering

During his weekly Angelus reflection, Pope Francis spoke about the trials he is experiencing and the hope that shines through those who offer care and compassion. He drew inspiration from the mystery of the Transfiguration, emphasizing how Jesus, immersed in prayer, radiates divine light.

Pope explained that through the Transfiguration, Jesus revealed to His disciples the deeper reality behind His actions—the infinite love that guides Him. This reflection led Pope Francis to contemplate the difficulties he and many others facing illness endure. Despite physical weakness, he stressed that nothing can prevent one from loving, praying, giving, and becoming a beacon of hope for others.

He particularly highlighted the light of love present in hospitals and care facilities, where the most humble acts of service reflect God’s presence. He expressed gratitude to those who support him in prayer, especially children, including those who visited him at the Gemelli hospital. Pope reassured them of his affection, telling them that he eagerly looks forward to meeting them.

As is customary, Pope Francis concluded his address with prayers for peace across the world, mentioning war-torn regions such as Ukraine, Palestine, Israel, Lebanon, Myanmar, Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Additionally, he urged prayers for the Church as it continues its synodal journey.
