A Life of Faith and Service
Born in Dobra, Poland, Bishop Kolodziej began his religious journey with the Salvatorians in 1987, making his perpetual profession in 1992. Ordained as a priest in 1994 by Cardinal Franciszek Macharski, he was soon sent to Australia, where he dedicated himself to pastoral ministry. Over the years, he has served in various capacities, including as a parish priest, chaplain, and mentor to young clergy and seminarians, fostering faith and guidance across multiple dioceses.
Leadership and Ministerial Experience
Since October 2018, Bishop Kolodziej has led the Salvatorians in Australia as their Superior, guiding the religious community with a deep commitment to faith and service. His extensive leadership experience includes serving as Vice Superior of the Salvatorian Region of Australia, directing the Salvatorian Spirituality Centre in Perth, and contributing to the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference. His ability to connect with parishioners and clergy alike has earned him great respect within the Church.
A Vision for Pastoral Care and Outreach
With a background in psychology and pastoral care, Bishop Kolodziej has played a key role in counseling and rehabilitation initiatives. His work in supporting individuals through addiction recovery programs highlights his commitment to holistic ministry. The ordination ceremony was attended by distinguished clergy, including the Apostolic Nuncio to Australia, Archbishop Charles Balvo, and bishops from across the country. Archbishop Timothy Costelloe SDB, President of the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference, extended a warm welcome, expressing confidence in Bishop Kolodziej’s ability to serve and lead.
