Lenovo and Ericsson Resolve Global Patent Conflict

Lenovo  announced on Thursday that it had reached a resolution with Ericsson through a global patent cross-licensing agreement, bringing an end to their extensive legal dispute.

The two tech giants had been engaged in multiple lawsuits worldwide over 4G and 5G wireless technology, including a case Lenovo filed against Ericsson in London in 2023. Additional litigation between them spanned Brazil, Colombia, North Carolina, and the U.S. International Trade Commission, primarily concerning fair, reasonable, and non-discriminatory   licensing terms for their patents.

As part of the settlement, Lenovo and Ericsson have agreed to binding arbitration to finalize the terms. Ericsson acknowledged the agreement, stating that the financial impact of the settlement would start reflecting from Q2 2025.

This announcement follows another significant patent dispute resolution earlier in the week, with Amazon and Nokia  reaching their own global settlement.
