Pope Francis's Passing: KRLCBC Issues Guidelines for Dioceses and Parishes

Following the peaceful passing of Pope Francis, who has returned to the embrace of the Heavenly Father, the Liturgy Commission of the Kerala Latin Catholic Bishops’ Committee (KRLCBC) has released a set of recommendations for dioceses and parishes to observe this solemn moment with reverence.

The proposed observances are as follows:

1. Church bells should toll five times every three to four hours as a sign of mourning and remembrance.

2. Black flags may be displayed at diocesan centers, parish churches, and associated institutions as a tribute to the departed Holy Father.

3. Until a successor is chosen, the Pope's name is to be omitted from the Eucharistic prayers of thanksgiving.

4. Special public prayers should be organized across dioceses and parishes to offer collective homage and intercession for the late Pontiff.

5. A photograph of Pope Francis may be respectfully placed at the front of churches as a visible sign of mourning and honor.
