The investigation into the recent terror attack in Pahalgam has officially been transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), following orders from the Union Home Ministry. The hunt for the perpetrators in the dense forest regions has now entered its fifth consecutive day.

The NIA assumed full control of the case after uncovering clear international links to the attack. Early findings revealed that The Resistance Front, a Pakistan-backed terror outfit, was directly involved. Although the Jammu and Kashmir Police were initially leading the probe with the NIA conducting a parallel inquiry, the emergence of foreign connections prompted the handover to the central agency.

Despite releasing the identities and photographs of five suspected militants, authorities have yet to apprehend any of them. Search operations, heavily relying on drone surveillance and helicopter sweeps, continue across the rugged terrain.

Meanwhile, the central government is reportedly growing increasingly uneasy over frequent skirmishes involving the army across various regions. There are strong indications that India may escalate its response — considering military measures alongside diplomatic pressure against Pakistan.
