Bengaluru: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has voiced complete backing for the central government’s measures against those responsible for the Pahalgam terror attack. Emphasizing the need for decisive action, Kharge urged the government to utilize its full capabilities to eliminate terrorism. Speaking at a press conference in Bengaluru, he stressed the importance of collective trust and unity in moving forward.
"The nation stands above all — above religion, above language," Kharge asserted. "We must come together in solidarity to defend the country. I have consistently maintained that we must support the government in such times. Fighting for the country's welfare requires collective effort," he added.
He emphasized that instead of indulging in blame games, building mutual trust would make it easier to take strong steps against terror threats.
Addressing concerns about the recent all-party meeting, Kharge said certain discussions could not be publicly disclosed due to national security concerns. "Many are quick to criticize, but such actions are misplaced," he noted.
Kharge explained that what was discussed at the meeting was clearly conveyed, though some individuals were twisting the facts. He pointed out that even leaders like Narendra Modi and Amit Shah have faced similar misinterpretations.
"In matters concerning national security, full disclosure is neither wise nor possible," he emphasized.
At the same time, Kharge clarified a circulating misconception — affirming that the Prime Minister was very much engaged with the all-party meeting and had not distanced himself from it, as some had alleged.
