Srinagar: Security forces have successfully identified the terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam attack and have been closing in on them over the past five days. Multiple encounters have been reported, with intermittent gunfire exchanged between the terrorists and security personnel. Authorities have confirmed that the attackers remain within the Kashmir Valley.
The pursuit began in Hapatnar village in Anantnag district, where forces first trapped the terrorists. Later, contact was established in the dense forests of Kulgam, where the terrorists fired on the forces before managing to slip away. Subsequent operations saw security forces corner the suspects in the rugged hills of Tral, followed by sightings and engagement in the Kokernag region.
Current intelligence suggests that the terrorists are moving between the Tral and Kokernag belt, reportedly seeking refuge and scavenging for food in local homes during the night. An extensive manhunt, including house-to-house searches and combing operations, is underway to track them down and bring them to justice.
