Thiruvananthapuram: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to arrive in the capital today ahead of the grand national dedication of the Vizhinjam International Port. The state-of-the-art seaport, now fully functional, will be formally inaugurated by the Prime Minister during a public event at 11 a.m. on Friday, hosted at a special venue within the port premises.
The ceremony will witness the presence of prominent dignitaries, including Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Governor Rajendra Arlekar, Union Minister for Ports Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Ministers Suresh Gopi and George Kurien, Minister V.N. Vasavan, MP Shashi Tharoor, and Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani, among others.
PM Modi is expected to land at Thiruvananthapuram airport at 7:50 p.m. today and will proceed directly to the Raj Bhavan. On Friday morning, he will depart for Pangode Military Base and then fly by helicopter to Vizhinjam, arriving around 10:30 a.m. There, he will ceremoniously receive the port’s mothership, MSC Celestino Marasca, followed by a tour of the facility and a public address. After the event, the Prime Minister will return to Pangode and depart for Hyderabad by 12:30 p.m.
