Thiruvananthapuram: Former Indian cricketer S. Sreesanth has been banned for three years by the Kerala Cricket Association in response to the exclusion of Sanju Samson from the Indian team for the Champions Trophy. The action was taken for making insulting.
The controversy arose from Sreesanth's support for Sanju's exclusion from the Kerala cricket team. The decision to take action against Sreesanth was taken at a special general body meeting of the Kerala Cricket Association held in Ernakulam on Wednesday. Sreesanth is currently the co-owner of the Kerala Cricket League franchise Kollam Aries.
Following the remarks, the association had earlier issued show cause notices against Sreesanth and franchise teams Kollam Aries, Alleppey team lead conductor Sai Krishnan and Alleppey Ripples.
Since the teams had given a satisfactory response to the notice, the meeting decided not to proceed with the action against them and instructed them to be cautious while inducting members into the team management.
The Kerala Cricket Association also announced in its general body meeting that it had decided to file a case for compensation against Sanju Samson's father Samson Vishwanath, Reggie Lucas and the channel anchor who had made baseless allegations against him.
