PM Modi Vows Uninterrupted Development in Jammu & Kashmir, Issues Stern Warning to Pakistan

New Delhi: In a resolute address delivered in Katra on June 6, 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi affirmed India's unwavering commitment to the development of Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that no external force, including Pakistan, would be permitted to impede this progress.

This declaration follows the tragic Pahalgam attack in April, which claimed the lives of 26 Hindu tourists. India has attributed the assault to Pakistan-backed militants, a claim that Pakistan has denied. In response, India launched "Operation Sindoor," targeting alleged terrorist camps across the border. The operation led to a brief period of heightened tensions between the two nations before a ceasefire was established.

During his visit, PM Modi inaugurated several significant infrastructure projects aimed at bolstering the region's connectivity and economic growth. These include a $5 billion railway line connecting the Kashmir Valley to the Indian plains, featuring the world's highest railway arch bridge over the Chenab River. Additionally, two Vande Bharat trains were launched, reducing travel time between Srinagar and Katra by half.

Emphasizing the cultural and economic significance of these developments, PM Modi accused Pakistan of attempting to undermine "Kashmiriyat"—the unique cultural identity of Kashmir—and the livelihoods of its people. He stated, "Pakistan is against the 'rozi-roti' (livelihood) of Kashmiris," highlighting the nation's efforts to destabilize the region.

The Prime Minister also reiterated India's firm stance on national security, warning Pakistan that any future acts of aggression would be met with decisive retaliation. He declared that "Operation Sindoor" is ongoing and underscored India's zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism.

In a broader geopolitical context, PM Modi emphasized that any future dialogue with Pakistan would focus solely on the issue of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), dismissing the possibility of trade or other discussions until Pakistan dismantles its "terrorist infrastructure."

Through these initiatives and declarations, PM Modi conveyed a clear message: India's development trajectory in Jammu and Kashmir is steadfast, and any attempts to derail it will be firmly countered.
