New Delhi: In the wake of the devastating crash of Air India Flight AI171 from Ahmedabad to London, several Indian airlines IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Akasa Air have joined the national mourning effort. Each carrier swiftly removed their profile pictures and banner images from social media platforms as a sign of respect for the victims.

All three airlines also posted solemn messages on X (formerly Twitter), offering heartfelt condolences:

IndiGo wrote, “We are deeply saddened by the unfortunate incident at Ahmedabad airport. Our thoughts are with the passengers, crew, and their families. We stand united in spirit with Air India at this very difficult time.”

SpiceJet expressed similar sentiments: “We are truly saddened by the tragic incident at Ahmedabad airport. Our prayers are with the passengers, crew, and their loved ones. We stand in solidarity with Air India during this difficult time.”

Following the crash, Ahmedabad airport temporarily suspended all flight operations, triggering travel disruptions. Flight services have since resumed on a limited scale, with advisories issued by IndiGo and SpiceJet encouraging affected passengers to rebook or seek full refunds.

However, the aviation tragedy reverberated through financial markets: shares of InterGlobe Aviation (IndiGo) and SpiceJet tumbled nearly 3–4%, reflecting investor unease.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) and DGCA have launched a full-scale investigation. Air India has activated emergency response centres and family support teams to assist victims’ relatives. Meanwhile, the Tata Group—which owns Air India—expressed profound sorrow and pledged to support affected families, while airport operator Adani Enterprises confirmed its cooperation with rescue and recovery efforts.

This collective response—from sombre social media posts to cross-carrier solidarity and emergency aid—highlights the nation's shared grief and unified resolve in the face of a national aviation disaster.
