Iranian Military Chief Killed in Israeli Strike on Tehran; Top Nuclear Scientists Also Dead; Reports Says

Jerusalem: In a dramatic escalation of tensions, Israeli airstrikes on Tehran have reportedly killed Iran’s top military commander, Major General Hossein Salami, head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), along with several other high-ranking officials and nuclear scientists. The information, carried by Iranian state media, is yet to be independently verified but has sent shockwaves through the region.

General Salami, a key figure in shaping Iran’s military doctrine and strategy, had served since the Iran-Iraq War and led the Revolutionary Guard during recent confrontations with Israel. Just a day before the reported strike, Salami had declared Iran’s readiness to face any aggression. His death, if confirmed, marks one of the most severe blows to Iran’s military leadership in decades.

Also reportedly killed were Dr. Fereydoun Abbasi, former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, and Dr. Mohammad Mehdi Tehrani, president of Tehran's Islamic Azad University — both senior figures in Iran’s nuclear research apparatus.

Ali Shamkhani, senior advisor to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is said to be critically injured. The strikes, which also targeted the Natanz nuclear facility and multiple military sites, have prompted the Indian Embassy in Iran to issue a security advisory for Indian citizens, urging them to remain vigilant and avoid travel unless necessary.
