Washington: Former U.S. President Donald Trump has urged Iran to come to the negotiating table over its nuclear program, warning that there is still a chance to halt the cycle of violence with Israel before it spirals further out of control.
In a post on his Truth Social platform on Friday, Trump acknowledged the devastation already caused, but stressed that “there is still time to stop the carnage.” He warned that future attacks which he claimed are already being planned could be even more catastrophic if diplomacy is not pursued.
“There has already been great death and destruction,” Trump wrote. “But this slaughter can still be stopped the planned next wave of attacks will be even more devastating unless a deal is made.”
The statement came just hours after Israel launched a wave of military strikes on Iranian targets, claiming to have hit nuclear-related sites, ballistic missile production facilities, and key military leadership compounds. The offensive marks a sharp escalation in hostilities as fears grow over Iran’s potential to develop nuclear weapons.
Trump’s call for a resolution comes amid rising international anxiety and renewed discussions about reviving diplomacy to avert a full-scale regional conflict.
