Blessing of Melbourne Syro-Malabar Pastoral Centre on July 11

The blessing ceremony of the Syro-Malabar Eparchy of Melbourne's Pastoral and Renewal Centre (Santhome Grove) will take place on Friday, July 11, at 2 PM. Major Archbishop Mar Raphael Thattil of the Syro-Malabar Church will lead the ceremony. Bishop John Panamthottathil, Bishop Bosco Puthur, and Monsignor Fr. Francis Kolencherry, among other dignitaries, will also be present at the event.

The facility, which the Pallottine Fathers had operated for decades, has now been acquired by the Syro-Malabar Church. On this occasion, Bishop John Panamthottathil expressed his hope for the participation of the faithful from the diocese. Monsignor Fr. Francis Kolencherry stated in a press release that the centre is fully equipped to support youth programs.

The diocese has acquired a 200-acre property located in Wesburn, near the Yarra Ranges National Park, about 60 kilometers from Melbourne city, to establish this Pastoral and Community Resource Centre.

Known as Pallotti College, the site is situated adjacent to the Yarra Valley winery region and includes approximately 7,857 square meters of built-up area with 69 rooms, a chapel, and various other facilities. It is well-suited for diocesan-level retreats, conferences, and youth programs.
