Kottayam: The Chaitanya Pastoral Centre in Tellakam will today host the prestigious Chaitanya Excellence Awards ceremony at 3 PM. Instituted jointly by the Kottayam Social Service Society (KSSS) the social service arm of the Archdiocese of Kottayam and the Fr. Abraham Mutholath Foundation, the awards aim to recognize outstanding individuals who have played significant roles in supporting and inspiring the social outreach work of KSSS.
The 2025 recipients include prominent figures such as senior IAS officer and Additional Chief Secretary T.K. Jose, State Minority Development Finance Corporation Chairman Stephen George X MLA, Kerala State Disability Commissioner Dr. Baburaj P.T, Pathanamthitta District Principal Agriculture Officer Shirley Zacharias, and retired Tehsildar and KSSS Board Member George Kurian Pandavath. Each awardee will receive a cash prize of ₹20,001 and a commemorative memento.
The award function will be inaugurated by Cooperation, Ports, and Devaswom Minister V.N. Vasavan, while Archbishop Mar Mathew Moolakkatt of Kottayam will preside over the event. The keynote address will be delivered by Government Chief Whip Dr. N. Jayaraj.
Distinguished guests such as MPs Jose K. Mani and Adv. Francis George, and a host of other political leaders including Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan MLA, Adv. Mons Joseph MLA, Mani C. Kappan MLA, and Adv. Chandy Oommen MLA will also be present. Kottayam District Collector John V. Samuel IAS, former MP Thomas Chazhikadan, and several panchayat and municipal leaders will join in the celebration.
The event will also feature messages from key church and civic dignitaries, including Rev. Fr. Thomas Animoottil, Vicar General of the Archdiocese and President of KSSS, who will offer the benediction address. KSSS Executive Director Fr. Sunil Perumanoor and Associate Director Fr. Gefin Ozhungalil will guide the event.
Representatives from various social, administrative, and religious bodies, such as Block Panchayat and Grama Panchayat leaders, municipal chairpersons, and officials from the police and transport departments, will also grace the occasion, reflecting the widespread community support for this initiative.
