Texas Embraces Faith in Education: Growing Support for Ten Commandments Display in Classrooms

Washington: Public support continues to rise across the United States for Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s directive mandating the display of the Ten Commandments in all public school classrooms starting in the 2025–2026 academic year.

According to a recent Pew Research Center survey, a significant portion of the American public is in favor of expanding Christian expression within educational settings. The survey, which included responses from 36,908 U.S. adults, found that 52% support the idea of teachers leading Christian prayers in classrooms, with 27% expressing strong support for the practice.

Under the new Texas legislation, public and charter schools will be required to prominently display a poster of the Ten Commandments in English, measuring 16 x 20 inches (41 x 51 cm), ensuring clear visibility from anywhere in the classroom.

This law is part of a broader initiative in Texas aimed at reintroducing and affirming religious values within public education. Proponents of the legislation argue it safeguards religious freedom and gives both students and educators greater freedom to express their personal faith without fear of restriction.

Supporters believe the move reflects a return to the nation’s foundational values, emphasizing morality, respect, and spiritual awareness in the lives of young learners.
