Sister Christine Lobo, Esteemed Catholic Educator and Nun, Passes Away

Dubai: Sister Christine Lobo, a dedicated member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery (Nagpur Province), passed away on July 2, 2025, after a period of illness. She was 65.

Born on June 4, 1960, Sr. Christine committed her life to the service of God and others through the charism of her religious community. She served for many years as an educator and pastoral caregiver, most recently holding the position of Head of Pastoral Care at St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Dubai, where she became known for her deep faith, quiet strength, and compassionate guidance to students, teachers, and families.

She was also an active member of the Parish Council of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dubai, contributing to the spiritual and pastoral life of the local community. Her presence in the school and parish was marked by gentleness, prayerfulness, and a tireless dedication to others.

Sister Christine had been on medical leave in recent months and was later diagnosed with cancer. Despite her suffering, she remained a source of encouragement and peace to all who knew her.

Her congregation, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery Nagpur Province, shared the news of her passing with deep sorrow and gratitude for her life of service.

Funeral services will be held on July 3, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. at Sandhyavan, Yerla Village, Nagpur. She is remembered with love and admiration by her religious community, colleagues, students, and all whose lives she touched.
