Five Dedicated Altar Boys Rewarded with Bicycles for a Year of Unwavering Church Attendance

Vellamunda/Wayanad: In a heartwarming celebration of faith, discipline, and dedication, five young altar boys from Jude’s Mount Parish were awarded brand-new gear bicycles for an extraordinary spiritual commitment attending church every single day for a full year without missing a single service.

From June One of last year, Leon Ottapinal, Dion Munjanattu, Jeron Palekkudi, Jaise Molath, and Anson Molath attended daily Mass with unwavering devotion. What makes their achievement even more remarkable is that all five boys serve as altar boys, assisting at the Holy Mass, weekday or weekend.

True to his word, the parish vicar Fr. Thomas Kakkonal fulfilled a promise he had made a year ago: any child who attended Mass every day for a year would be rewarded with a high-quality bicycle. And on July 3, the promise came to life.

The occasion was made even more special with the presence of Fr. Thomas Kachirayil, Director of Catechesis for the Diocese of Mananthavady, who personally handed over the bicycles during a ceremony held at Saint Jude’s Church Jude’s Mount. The presentation took place after the solemn celebration of Holy Mass, where the five boys also received special blessings.

Adding a beautiful touch of generosity to the story, the bicycles were sponsored by four anonymous benefactors who came forward to support the noble initiative. Their kindness made the gifts possible and added meaning to an already inspiring act of commitment.

This moment stands as a shining example of how young people, guided by faith and encouragement, can rise to extraordinary discipline. The parish community celebrated not just the gift of bicycles, but the deeper message they symbolized: that faithfulness, no matter how young or small, never goes unnoticed.
