FIFA Rankings: Argentina Leads the Pack, India Slips to 133rd in Historic Low

New Delhi: FIFA has released its latest global football rankings, with reigning world champions Argentina holding firm at the top. Spain has climbed to second place, pushing France to third, while England and Brazil follow in fourth and fifth spots respectively. UEFA Nations League champions Portugal have also made progress, moving up one place to secure sixth.

On the other hand, it’s a grim day for Indian football fans. India has plummeted to the 133rd position its lowest ranking in nearly eight years. This marks a dramatic fall from the 99th spot it held in July 2023, signaling a deepening crisis in Indian football.

The Blue Tigers have been struggling for form, having failed to register a single win in any official match since November 2023. Over their last 16 outings, they’ve secured just one victory. In the wake of this dismal run, head coach Manolo Marquez resigned, leaving the team searching for a fresh direction amid mounting challenges.
