Headmistress Suspended After Student Dies of Shock; Probe Reveals Negligence

Kollam: In the aftermath of a student’s tragic death due to shock at Thevalakkara Boys High School, the school management has suspended headmistress S. Suja. The suspension follows a directive from the Deputy Director of the General Education Department, citing a serious breach in student safety protocols.

Investigators concluded that the headmistress failed to take adequate measures to ensure the well-being of students, contributing to the incident. The inquiry also pointed out that school authorities neglected to implement established safety protocols. As an interim measure, senior teacher G. Molly has been appointed to take charge of school administration.

Education Minister V. Sivankutty addressed the media earlier, confirming that he had recommended the immediate suspension of the headmistress. He warned that if the school management failed to act, the government would step in. The minister also stated that a detailed report had been received and a show-cause notice would be issued to the management for their inaction.
