Kerala University VC Syndicate Power Struggle Approaches Resolution

Thiruvananthapuram: The ongoing power struggle between Kerala University's Vice-Chancellor and Syndicate appears to be nearing a resolution. The path to an agreement became clearer after VC Mohanan Kunnummal pledged to convene a Syndicate meeting following the state's intervention. This move follows guidance from Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who directed the Higher Education Department to step in amid the university's ongoing turmoil.

In a sign of easing tensions, Kunnummal personally visited Minister R. Bindu at her official residence, signaling a shift in the government’s stance. The state's efforts to mediate extend beyond just Kerala University, with talks aimed at addressing issues across other institutions. Once the Governor returns to Kerala, the ministers are set to meet at Raj Bhavan for further discussions to bring the crisis to an end.
