Priestly Radiance Marks Pala Diocese’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

Kottayam: The Pala Diocese, renowned globally as a cradle of priestly vocations, concluded its Platinum Jubilee celebrations with spiritually vibrant and richly symbolic ceremonies that underscored its unparalleled legacy of clerical dedication. A solemn Holy Mass, graced by the participation of nearly 400 priests belonging to the diocese, marked the commencement of the grand finale of the Jubilee observance.

The diocese, which has gifted the Church with approximately 500 priests actively engaged in pastoral, missionary, and educational ministries across the globe, remains a beacon of priestly wealth. Remarkably, 40 bishops originating from the Pala Diocese now serve in diverse dioceses and ecclesiastical jurisdictions both within India and abroad, reaffirming Pala’s identity as a powerhouse of vocation and ecclesial leadership.

The Eucharistic celebration preceding the formal conference was presided over by Archbishop Mar Thomas Tharayil of Changanassery. Major Archbishop Cardinal Baselios Mar Cleemis, Catholicos of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, delivered an inspiring keynote address that highlighted the profound spiritual heritage and missionary zeal of the diocese.

The altar was surrounded by a distinguished array of Church leaders including Archbishop Mar Joseph Pamplani, Bishops Mar Sebastian Vadakkel, Yuhanon Mar Chrysostom, Justin Mathathiparambil, Mar George Mathathikandathil, Mar George Punnakottil, Mar James Anaparambil, Bishop Sylvester Ponnumuthan, Mar Thomas Padiyath, Mar Jose Pulikkal, Dr. Jose Sebastian Thekkumcherikunnel, Mar Joseph Kollamparambil, Mar Joseph Srampickal, Mar Jacob Angadiath, and Mar Joseph Pallikaparambil.

With prayers, praise, and priestly unity, the Platinum Jubilee celebrations not only honored a historic milestone but also radiated the deep spiritual commitment that continues to define the Pala Diocese’s contribution to the Universal Church.
