Thiruvananthapuram: As the Indian Super League (ISL) faces deepening uncertainty over its next season, Kerala Blasters have offered a ray of hope to their fans by confirming they will not terminate the contracts of any players or coaching staff. Amid a climate where some clubs are suspending contracts due to the ongoing crisis, the Blasters have chosen unity and resilience.
The ISL, originally slated to begin in September, is currently stalled due to unresolved disputes between the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and franchise owners over revenue-sharing arrangements. This impasse has not only delayed the season’s kickoff but also disrupted the pre-season training and planning for several teams.
In response to growing concerns, the AIFF has summoned eight franchise representatives for crucial discussions on Thursday. It is expected that the talks may pave the way for a consensus or at least set a clear direction for the league's future. Kerala Blasters remain hopeful that the issues will be resolved soon, especially after the outcome of the pending Supreme Court verdict related to league governance.
While reports surfaced that Odisha FC and a few others have opted to freeze contracts amid financial uncertainty, speculation grew about whether Kerala Blasters would take similar measures. However, the Kochi-based club has taken a clear stand, stating that all existing contracts with players and coaching staff will be honored.
The club management emphasized their commitment to weathering the crisis as one united team, reassuring fans that the spirit and integrity of Kerala Blasters remain intact despite external turbulence.
