Sister Lismi CMC, the ‘Camera Nun’, Honoured with Prestigious James Alberione Award

Pune: Celebrated for her pioneering contributions to Catholic media and visual storytelling, Sister Lismi CMC, affectionately known as the Camera Nun, has been chosen as the recipient of the James Alberione Award for excellence in journalism. The honour will be presented during the 30th National Convention of Christian Journalists, hosted by the Indian Catholic Press Association (ICPA) in Pune.

Sister Lismi’s creative portfolio is both vast and impactful. Over the years, she has produced more than 25 short films, 250 video albums, 150 documentaries, and over 100 interviews, each work carrying the mark of her commitment to values-based communication. Her unique ability to weave human stories with depth and authenticity has earned her recognition not only in India but also on international platforms.

Earlier in 2025, Sister Lismi was invited to Vatican City as a panelist at the Global Communication Forum, where she was the only representative from India. Her insights on faith, ethics, and the responsible use of digital platforms highlighted her stature as a voice of credibility in Catholic journalism.

The award, instituted in memory of Blessed James Alberione, founder of the Pauline Family and a pioneer of Catholic media worldwide, reflects the ICPA’s recognition of Sister Lismi’s role in strengthening the Christian presence in the media space.

Based at the Nirmala Province Studio in Kolazhi, Thrissur, Sister Lismi continues to inspire through her creative projects. Hailing from Vettukad, Puthur in Thrissur, she has steadily carved her identity as a religious sister who bridges spirituality with modern communication tools.

Her recognition with the James Alberione Award reaffirms the growing importance of faith-based voices in shaping meaningful narratives in today’s media landscape.
