Fresh Faces Take Charge: Melbourne Syro-Malabar Cathedral Parish Catholic Congress Welcomes New Leadership

Melbourne: Melbourne’s St. Alphonsa Cathedral Parish has ushered in a new chapter for its Catholic Congress with the election of a vibrant leadership team. Steering the community forward, Joy Mathew has been appointed President, supported by Jaisto Joseph as Vice President. The administrative reins will be handled by Tom Xavier (Secretary) and Joby Mathew (Joint Secretary), while Sabu Thomas takes on the crucial role of Treasurer.

The Executive Committee, tasked with shaping parish initiatives and community engagement, now includes George Antony, Dilip John, Jessin Jose, and Tijo Joseph. Together, this leadership cohort promises renewed energy and direction for the parish’s Catholic Congress activities.

The elections took place during a well-attended meeting yesterday, presided over by the Cathedral Parish Vicar, Fr. Mathew Areeplakkal. Parish handymen Babu Varkey and Jimmy Joseph were also present, reflecting the inclusive spirit of the gathering.

With these appointments, the Melbourne Syro-Malabar Catholic Congress sets its sights on fostering spiritual growth, community involvement, and active participation in parish programs under a dynamic and committed leadership team.
