New Animated Film on Carlo Acutis to Premiere on Day of His Canonization

Vatican City: On the eve of a historic moment for the Catholic Church, a new animated film celebrating the life of Carlo Acutis is set for release. The movie, titled “Carlo Acutis, God’s Influencer,” will debut on September 7 the same day the young computer whiz and devoted Catholic is officially declared a saint.

Produced by CCC of America in collaboration with the Augustine Institute, the film aims to bring the inspiring story of Acutis to children and families through a format that is both engaging and faith-centered. The story highlights his deep devotion to the Eucharist and his innovative use of technology and the internet to spread the Gospel an approach that has earned him the title of the Church’s first “millennial saint.”

Available for streaming on Formed, a digital platform operated by the Augustine Institute, the animated feature follows Acutis’ journey of faith, perseverance, and service to others. The project seeks to emphasize the timeless message that personal talents, even in technology and media, can be powerful instruments for evangelization when placed in God’s service.

The film joins a growing body of works on Acutis, including documentaries such as EWTN’s “Blessed Carlo Acutis From London to the World” and “I Am With You A Documentary on Carlo Acutis.” His life has also been chronicled in books, including “Blessed Carlo Acutis A Saint in Sneakers” by Vatican journalist Courtney Mares.

Juan Carlos Carredano, the film’s executive producer, explained that CCC of America has been producing saint-focused films since 1983 and continues to receive requests for new stories. “That is why we decided to bring Carlo Acutis’ amazing story to the new generations,” Carredano said in an interview. He described Acutis as a relatable role model for young people, demonstrating that sainthood is not confined to history but is attainable in the modern world.

Carredano added that Carlo’s testimony resonates widely because of its authenticity: “Carlo is transforming thousands of hearts through his life and testimony, which revealed the true presence of God. I believe that is what makes him a real influencer.” He emphasized the film’s goal of encouraging viewers to share the Gospel, embrace originality in faith, and live with purpose.

The project also reflects the wishes of Acutis’ mother, Antonia, who has highlighted four key messages of her son’s spiritual legacy: belief in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist, devotion to the Virgin Mary, the importance of living in a state of grace, and a call to love and serve others, especially those in need.

With Acutis’ canonization set to inspire Catholics worldwide, the film offers an accessible and creative way for the faithful especially younger audiences to encounter his story. By blending animation with powerful spiritual lessons, “Carlo Acutis, God’s Influencer” reinforces the message that sainthood is not distant but possible for everyone in everyday life.
