BSF Apprehends Pakistani Intruder in Jammu’s RS Pura Sector

Jammu: The Border Security Force (BSF) apprehended a Pakistani national attempting to cross the International Border in the RS Pura sector of Jammu on Sunday night. The incident took place near the Octroi outpost, where troops detected suspicious movement and intercepted the intruder after issuing repeated warnings.

The individual has been identified as 29-year-old Siraj Khan, a resident of Sargodha in Punjab province of Pakistan. According to BSF officials, Khan ignored the initial warnings and continued advancing towards the border fence, prompting security personnel to fire two to three warning rounds before taking him into custody.

During the search, Pakistani currency in denominations of 20 and 10 rupees was recovered from his possession. No weapons or contraband were found. Security agencies are currently questioning the intruder to ascertain the motive behind his infiltration attempt.

The incident comes amid heightened vigilance along the Jammu border following damage to sections of the fence caused by recent flash floods. BSF has intensified its patrolling and surveillance measures in the sector to prevent illegal crossings and smuggling attempts.

Similar cases of cross-border intrusion have been reported in recent months. In May, Pakistani infiltrators were shot dead by BSF in Punjab’s Ferozpur sector and Gujarat’s Banaskantha district. Just weeks ago, 15 Pakistani fishermen were detained in Gujarat’s Kori Creek for illegally entering Indian waters. In Rajasthan, security forces also seized heroin worth Rs 13 crore that was reportedly dropped by a Pakistani drone, highlighting ongoing threats of narco-terrorism along the border.

BSF officials emphasized that infiltration attempts continue to be a serious concern, often linked with smuggling and cross-border terrorism. They reiterated that strict action will be taken against any unlawful crossing of the border.
