Pala: If people want to live well in the future, it can only be achieved by studying history, making it their own, and acting accordingly, said Msgr. Sebastian Vethanath, Vicar General of the Diocese of Pala.
He was speaking while inaugurating the memorial meeting organized by the Catholic Congress Pala Diocesan Committee to mark the 239th death anniversary of Mar Ouseph Kariyattil, Metropolitan, and the 289th birth anniversary of Paremmakkal Thoma Kathanar.
He stated that the efforts made by Parammakkal Governadhor and Kariyattil Metropolitan for the freedom and unity of the St. Thomas Christians will always be remembered. He also pointed out that Parammakkal’s Varthamanapusthakam is an invaluable contribution to the Malayalam language.
The meeting was presided over by Diocesan Vice President Pius Kavalamakkal. Rev. Dr. George Varghese Njarakkunnel, Anil Manuel, Jose Vattukulam, Fr. Mani Kozhuppankutty, Joy Kanniparambil, Ansamma Sabu, Tomy Kannittumyallil, Benny Kinatukara, Rajesh Parayil, Liby Manimala, Rajesh Kottayil, and Bella Sibi also spoke on the occasion.
