Pope Leo XIV Urges Humanity to Hear God’s Message of Hope in All Circumstances

Vatican City: Pope Leo XIV has sent a profound message of hope and spiritual guidance to participants and followers of the 12th Latin American Congress on Science and Religion, currently underway from September 10–12. In a letter conveyed through the Vatican Secretary of State, the Pope called upon humanity to seek paths that transcend the measurable world, allowing people to experience the divine and eternal truths that lie beyond human comprehension.

Addressed to the rector of the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum in Rome, as well as to the Congress organizers and attendees, Pope Leo XIV highlighted the event’s central theme: “The Languages of Creation: The Scientific, Philosophical, and Theological Hermeneutics of the ‘Book of Nature’ as a Path of Hope.” The Congress aims to explore the intersection of science, philosophy, and theology, offering a framework through which humanity can interpret creation and discern the presence of God in the natural and intellectual realms.

Drawing inspiration from St. Augustine, the Pope encouraged participants to seek ways for humanity to “rise above all things that can be measured, in order to behold the measure beyond measure.” In doing so, he emphasized that God’s work, even without spoken words, will proclaim the glory of its Creator. The Pope noted that such understanding allows humans to perceive divine hope not only during life’s clear and joyous moments but also amid the darker periods of anguish, suffering, and tribulation.

Pope Leo XIV stressed that guiding humanity toward the spiritual ascent above worldly measures is essential to hearing God’s message of hope. By lifting hearts and minds beyond the limitations of the material and measurable, people can cultivate a deeper appreciation of creation, divine wisdom, and eternal truth.

Concluding his message, the Holy Father invoked the Virgin Mary’s intercession, praying that “the Lord may sustain your efforts with His grace and affectionately imparts to you the longed-for Apostolic Blessing.” His words resonate as an invitation for scholars, scientists, theologians, and lay participants alike to embrace hope, faith, and the pursuit of knowledge as complementary pathways toward understanding God’s creation.

This message underscores the Vatican’s commitment to dialogue between science and religion, encouraging humanity to explore the mysteries of the universe while remaining grounded in spiritual reflection and divine guidance.
