Jaismine Lamboria Creates History With Gold at World Boxing Championships 2025

Liverpool: Liverpool witnessed a historic moment for Indian boxing as Jaismine Lamboria clinched gold in the women’s 57 kg category at the World Boxing Championships 2025. The 24-year-old from Bhiwani defeated Poland’s Julia Szermeta 4-1 in the final, showcasing sharp counter-attacks and superior control in the decisive rounds.

This victory marks Lamboria’s biggest international triumph so far, following her bronze medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games. It also comes as a powerful comeback after her early exit at the Paris 2024 Olympics. With a strong boxing lineage in her family, Lamboria has now carved her own place in history as one of India’s top pugilists.

India’s medal tally in Liverpool also included a silver and a bronze. Nupur Sheoran secured silver in the +80 kg category after a close 3-2 split decision loss to Poland’s Agata Kaczmarska in the final. Veteran boxer Pooja Rani added bronze in the 80 kg division, further strengthening India’s presence on the world stage.

Lamboria’s path to gold was dominant, as she defeated Brazil’s Jucielen Cerqueira Romeu, Uzbekistan’s Khumoranobu Mamajonova, and Venezuela’s Omailyn Carolina Alcala Segovia with convincing 5-0 victories in the lead-up to the final.

While the women’s team delivered outstanding performances, the Indian men’s contingent failed to secure a medal, marking a disappointing campaign compared to previous editions.

The success of Lamboria, Sheoran, and Rani highlights the growing strength of Indian women in global boxing. Their performances are expected to inspire a new generation of athletes and add momentum to India’s preparations for future international competitions.
