Kottayam Social Service Society Holds Beneficiary Meeting for Family Empowerment Project

Kottayam: In a significant step towards promoting holistic development for marginalized families, the Kottayam Social Service Society, the social service wing of the Kottayam Archdiocese, organized a beneficiary meeting under its Family Empowerment Project in collaboration with Save A Family Plan. The gathering, held at Thellakam Chaitanya, brought together project beneficiaries, coordinators, and social development experts to discuss strategies for sustainable growth and well-being.

The meeting was inaugurated by Fr. Sunil Perumanoor, Executive Director of the Kottayam Social Service Society, who emphasized the importance of empowering families through sustained support and skill development. Addressing the attendees, Fr. Sunil highlighted that the project is not merely a financial aid program, but a comprehensive initiative designed to foster long-term self-reliance and overall progress in various facets of life.

The Family Empowerment Project has been structured to provide monthly financial assistance to selected families for a period of six years. Beyond monetary support, the project aims to facilitate improvements in education, health, income generation, vocational skills, and infrastructure within households. This multi-dimensional approach seeks to ensure that beneficiaries are equipped to overcome socio-economic challenges and achieve sustainable growth.

As part of the meeting, an awareness session was conducted under the guidance of Nithyamol Babu, Coordinator of Save A Family Plan. The session focused on equipping families with knowledge and tools to optimize the benefits of the project, encouraging proactive participation in health, education, and income-generating activities. Attendees were also guided on maintaining records, monitoring progress, and accessing available resources efficiently.

In addition to discussions and awareness sessions, the meeting concluded with the formulation of an actionable plan for the year. This included target-setting for educational achievements, vocational training participation, health check-ups, and infrastructural improvements. Beneficiaries were encouraged to actively engage with project coordinators to ensure that the planned interventions translate into tangible improvements in their living conditions.

The Family Empowerment Project stands as a model initiative demonstrating how coordinated efforts between local social service organizations and global partners like Save A Family Plan can create meaningful, sustainable change in the lives of disadvantaged communities. The project reinforces the vision of Kottayam Social Service Society to build empowered, self-reliant families capable of contributing positively to society.
