Pathanamthitta: The Malankara Catholic Church embarks on its 95th Reunification Anniversary celebrations today, marking nearly a century of spiritual unity and ecclesiastical heritage. The festivities will unfold at All Saints Public School, Adoor, under the auspices of the Diocese of Pathanamthitta, drawing clergy, faithful, and dignitaries from across the region.
The grand event will commence with a ceremonial flag hoisting by Cardinal Mar Baselios Cleemis, a gesture symbolizing faith, unity, and the Church’s enduring legacy. Political leaders including Deputy Speaker Chittayam Gopakumar and Adoor Municipal Chairman K. Maheshkumar will address the congregation, reflecting the Church’s influential role in the social and cultural fabric of Kerala.
Tomorrow, the spiritual dimension of the celebrations will deepen with the inauguration of the Bible Convention at 5 pm by Archbishop Dr. Thomas Mar Koorilos. The convention will feature a sermon led by Fr. Daniel Poovannathil, Director of Vetinad Carmel Meditation Center, offering reflections and meditative insights into the Christian faith. The sermon will continue through the evenings of September 18 and 19, providing extended opportunities for prayer and spiritual enrichment.
In addition to devotional gatherings, the afternoon of September 19 will witness meetings of various devotional organizations, fostering fellowship and community engagement among the faithful. Later that evening, at 5.30 pm, the Church will commemorate the 1700th anniversary of the Council of Nicaea, celebrating this historic milestone in Christian doctrinal history.
The celebrations will culminate on September 20 with the annual Church meeting and reunion conference, a platform for reflection on the Church’s achievements, discussions on future initiatives, and renewed commitment to faith and service.
