Bogotá: Starting tomorrow, July 20, which is Colombia’s Independence Day, the faithful inside and outside the country will offer one million rosaries.
The rosary offering is being conducted as part of the campaign titled “One Million Rosaries for Colombia; One Voice,” which has drawn thousands of people. The rosary is arranged to begin at 3:00 PM local time tomorrow. During this time, people will pray for peace in the country and consecrate the country to Mary’s Immaculate Heart.
Given the backdrop of various crises that Colombia is undergoing including terrorist attacks in the southwestern regions such as Cauca and Valle del Cauca, and an attack against the presidential candidate in the ultra-conservative sector, Miguel Uribe Turbay this offering of rosaries is seen in the context of seeking divine intervention.
At the invitation of Father Daniel Bustamante, a priest of the Archdiocese of Bogotá, the faithful are coming together in prayer under the program “One Million Rosaries, One Voice.” The rosaries are to be offered at various levels at the level of parish communities, Marian movements, schools, and families.
