Pope Leo XIV addressed participants of the Jubilee Meeting organized by the Latin American and Caribbean Episcopal Council (CELAM), urging families to rediscover their faith and draw inspiration from the Holy Family of Nazareth. Speaking on the theme “The Future of the Family,” Pope emphasized that the Holy Family provides the perfect model for navigating life’s challenges and maintaining spiritual values.
In his address, Pope highlighted the importance of returning to one’s roots in faith, recalling the example of grandparents and parents. He described simple practices, such as family prayers and devotion, as vital foundations that sustain family life and strengthen community bonds.
Pope Leo emphasized that true joy can only be found in Jesus Christ, whom he called the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He warned against placing trust solely in worldly securities or secular expectations, underscoring that lasting happiness stems from living in accordance with God’s will.
Acknowledging the difficulties faced by many families today, including poverty, migration, and violence, Pope called on both the Church and civil institutions to actively protect and support family life. He described families as a gift and a responsibility, entrusted with nurturing God’s love and serving as living witnesses of faith within society.
Pope concluded by invoking the intercession of the Holy Family, encouraging participants to imitate their virtues so that homes may become beacons of God’s light and hope. He reiterated that the Jubilee Meeting is an opportunity for families to renew their faith, restore relationships, and embrace hope for the future.
The message reflects Pope Leo XIV’s ongoing commitment to pastoral care, spiritual guidance, and the promotion of family values in a rapidly changing world, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean.
