Born and nurtured within the Changanassery Archdiocese, Mar Jacob rose to pastoral leadership with grace and vision, ultimately serving as the head of three dioceses. Throughout his ministry, he displayed a deep commitment to social service, initiating and guiding movements that fostered both spiritual enrichment and material progress within his communities.
Among his many contributions were the establishment of the Christudassi Sanyasini Community, Mary Mata Major Seminary, and Mahajubilee Mission Medical College. Beyond educational institutions, he also founded centers dedicated to caring for AIDS patients, reflecting his unwavering dedication to those often neglected by society. His actions consistently demonstrated a pastoral heart that sided with the marginalized and vulnerable.
Mar Jacob maintained strong ties with his home Archdiocese and shared a profound friendship with the renowned Mar Powathil. Even during times of illness, he took the time to honor Mar Powathil with a heartfelt memorial note, exemplifying his enduring humility and compassion.
