Vatican City: The Congregation of Holy Cross has announced a worldwide initiative inviting Catholics to join a Global Rosary for Peace on October 22, 2025, coinciding with the Feast of Pope St. John Paul II. The initiative aims to unite families and communities in prayer, seeking peace amid ongoing global conflicts and suffering.
October is traditionally dedicated to the Holy Rosary, a devotion emphasizing the intercession of Mary, Queen of Peace. Pope Francis has often highlighted the Rosary’s power to heal hearts and transform history. Following a successful day of fasting, penance, and prayer for peace in October 2023, the Congregation felt a renewed call to continue praying for peace worldwide.
The Global Rosary for Peace is organized in partnership with Holy Cross Family Ministries and will be held online, allowing participation from across the globe. The event is scheduled to begin at 4:00 PM Rome time (10:00 AM Eastern Time) on October 22. Participants can join through the Holy Cross Family Ministries website, which will provide links and resources for the prayer event.
This year’s Rosary is particularly significant as it aligns with the Church’s Jubilee Year, themed "Pilgrims of Hope," and the Congregation’s special Year of Mission, promoting "Hope Beyond Borders." Thousands of participants from various countries are expected to join, reflecting a shared desire for peace and solidarity.
The Congregation invites people of all ages, languages, and nationalities to dedicate 30 minutes on October 22 to pray the Rosary for world peace. As Venerable Patrick Peyton, founder of Holy Cross Family Ministries, said, "A world at prayer is a world at peace."
The Global Rosary for Peace offers a moment for Catholics worldwide to unite in faith, expressing hope and a collective commitment to fostering peace across the globe.
