Thousands Gather in Indore for 14th Holy Bible Mahotsav, Renewing Faith and Hope

Indore: A powerful spirit of faith and unity filled the air in Indore as more than 4,000 devotees, clergy, and religious from across North India converged for the 14th Holy Bible Mahotsav, a three-day spiritual celebration dedicated to prayer, worship, and the Word of God. Held under the uplifting theme, “Hope of Sharing the Glory of God,” the Mahotsav became a profound experience of renewal, leaving the Diocese spiritually strengthened and united in mission.

The event was inaugurated by Bishop Thomas Mathew, who released a rosary of balloons into the sky a symbolic gesture of prayer and surrender to God. The inaugural day began with a devotional procession, led by women of the parish carrying the statue of Mother Mary and the Holy Bible, accompanied by rhythmic dance, hymns, and incense. This act of reverence set a tone of deep spirituality for the festival that followed.

At the heart of the Mahotsav was the preaching ministry of Fr. Yesudas VC and his team from the Divine Retreat Centre, Dumka. His powerful homilies and moving testimonies inspired the faithful to embrace the Scriptures as a living source of grace and transformation. He emphasized perseverance in faith, the necessity of confession, and the redemptive power of suffering when united with Christ. Fr. Yesudas’s message of hope and holiness resonated deeply, drawing participants to renewed commitment in their Christian journey.

Throughout the three days, the atmosphere was alive with prayer, song, and reflection. The Diocese also took the opportunity to honour individuals who had hand-transcribed the Holy Gospels, recognising their devotion to preserving and spreading the Word of God a gesture that highlighted the reverence for Scripture that lay at the heart of the event.

Behind the scenes, nearly 350 volunteers across 23 committees worked tirelessly to ensure the smooth conduct of the festival from hospitality and logistics to liturgy and media. Their dedication embodied the very theme of faith in action.

A special children’s segment, “Kairos,” introduced the younger generation to the Word of God through storytelling, creative workshops, and engaging activities designed to nurture faith at an early age. The children’s joy and enthusiasm became a living witness of the Church’s future hope.

The Mahotsav concluded with a solemn Eucharistic celebration, followed by academic felicitations and a session of Adoration and Healing Prayer that brought together thousands in collective thanksgiving and renewal. The sight of the faithful united in praise was a testament to the transforming grace experienced during the three-day festival.

Gratitude was expressed to Bishop Thomas Mathew, Fr. Preetam Vasuniya, and the organizing committee for their unwavering guidance and commitment in making the 14th edition a resounding success.

The 14th Holy Bible Mahotsav stood as more than a diocesan event it was a living testimony of faith and resilience. As the faithful dispersed, they carried with them the conviction that those who trust in the Lord will never be put to shame, reaffirming their mission to live and share the Gospel in their daily lives.
