Tragedy in Himachal: 15 Killed as Landslide Buries Bus, Rescue Teams Race Against Time

Bilaspur: A devastating landslide claimed the lives of 15 people when it struck a private bus traveling through the Bhalughat area of Bilaspur district on the evening of October 7, 2025. The bus, carrying around 20 to 25 passengers from Marotan to Ghumarwin, was engulfed by tons of earth and rocks following days of relentless rainfall.

Among the victims were nine men, four women, and two children. Two other children were injured, and one remains missing, leaving families anxiously waiting for news. Rescue teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and local authorities are working tirelessly, digging through debris in hopes of finding survivors.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over the tragedy and announced financial assistance of ₹2 lakh for the families of those who lost their lives and ₹50,000 for the injured, through the Prime Minister's Relief Fund.

This heartbreaking incident underscores the challenges faced by communities in the Himalayan region, where heavy rainfall and landslides are an ever-present threat. Authorities are calling for better infrastructure and disaster preparedness to prevent such tragedies in the future.
