Kochi: The Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council (KCBC) has initiated preparations for the grand conclusion of the 2025 Mahajubilee year, a significant celebration proclaimed by the universal Catholic Church. The closing ceremony is scheduled for December 13 at the Divine Meditation Center in Chalakudy, marking a historic gathering for the faithful of Kerala.

The first coordination meeting for the event was convened on October 11 at the KCBC office in Ernakulam POC. Bishop Alex Vadakkumthala, Secretary General of KCBC, presided over the session, while Deputy Secretary General Fr. Thomas Tharayil moderated the proceedings. During the meeting, eleven specialized committees were officially formed, tasked with overseeing various aspects of the Mahajubilee celebrations.

Representatives from all three rites of the Kerala Church the Latin, Syro-Malabar, and Syro-Malankara are included in these committees to ensure inclusive participation. The Mahajubilee Mahasangama will bring together around 3,000 faithfuls from 32 dioceses, alongside monastic communities, for a series of spiritual and cultural activities.

Key features of the gathering include thematic seminars, a general assembly, and a solemn Holy Mass centered on the Jubilee theme, “Pilgrims of Hope.” KCBC spokesperson Fr. Thomas Tharayil emphasized that meticulous planning is underway to ensure the smooth conduct of all events, reflecting the unity and vibrancy of the Kerala Church.

The Mahajubilee 2025 celebrations are expected to not only deepen spiritual engagement but also foster fellowship among the faithful, highlighting Kerala’s rich Catholic heritage and its active participation in the global Church’s milestones.
