Meghnagar: St. Arnold’s Church, nestled in the Diocese of Jhabua, celebrated a day of spiritual grandeur and communal joy on October 12, commemorating its Jubilee, Small Christian Communities (SCC) Day, and the 150th Anniversary of the Society of the Divine Word (SVD). The occasion was marked by a harmonious blend of liturgical solemnity and cultural vibrancy, bringing together families, clergy, and faithful in a shared celebration of faith and service.
The day commenced with a Eucharistic Celebration presided over by Rev. Fr. Maria Paulraj, SVD, Provincial Superior of the Central India Province. The Mass was concelebrated by Fr. Sylvester Meda, Secretary of the Diocese of Jhabua, Fr. Joman James, Parish Priest of St. Arnold’s Church, along with other esteemed members of the clergy. The liturgy was a profound moment of reflection, gratitude, and prayer, drawing the congregation into a collective spiritual experience.
In his homily, Fr. Paulraj inspired the faithful to embrace lives of gratitude and love, urging them, “Be grateful for what you have and thank God for His grace.” His message resonated across the congregation, encouraging every participant to become active witnesses of God’s love in their daily lives.
Post the solemn Mass, the parish came alive with a cultural evening organised by the Small Christian Communities (SCCs). These grassroots groups, dedicated to fostering fellowship, prayer, and social service within the parish, presented a series of lively performances that celebrated unity in diversity. Through dance, music, and skits, the SCCs highlighted the rich spiritual and cultural heritage of the region, reinforcing the Church’s mission of faith, fellowship, and service.
The event was graced by Bishop Peter Kharadi of the Diocese of Jhabua, along with other clergy members. Addressing the gathering, Bishop Peter emphasized the importance of unity, love, and hope, urging the faithful to “be one in Christ’s love and to live as pilgrims of hope in today’s world.” His words reflected the spirit of the celebration, reminding all present of the enduring strength found in communal faith.
