Maiden Rosary Congress in Accra calls for missionary zeal and Marian devotion

Accra:  Ghana’s Catholic Archdiocese of Accra concluded its first-ever Rosary Congress on October 18, urging the faithful to embrace missionary work and deepen their devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The three-day event, held from October 16 to 18 at the Our Lady of Fatima Grotto at Christ the King Cantonments Parish, drew around 7,000 pilgrims. Under the theme “The Holy Rosary: A Weapon for Pilgrims of Hope,” participants took part in Eucharistic Adoration, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, talks on the Rosary, personal testimonies, and a grand Rosary procession.

In his homily during the closing Mass, Archbishop Julien Kaboré, Apostolic Nuncio in Ghana, emphasized that missionary work is the responsibility of every baptized Catholic. He highlighted the Christ-centered nature of the Rosary, describing it as a prayer that guides believers closer to Christ through Mary.

The congress highlighted the Rosary as both a spiritual weapon and a source of personal strength, encouraging participants to make it part of their daily lives. Organizers said the event marks a milestone in promoting Marian devotion and inspiring the faithful to live out the Gospel actively.

The Archdiocese of Accra plans to continue fostering prayer and evangelization, building on the momentum of the maiden Rosary Congress and encouraging Catholics to share the transformative power of the Rosary with others.
