Women of Faith Illuminate Dibrugarh Diocese as Jubilee and Convention Celebrate ‘Pilgrims of Hope’

Dibrugarh: The Diocese of Dibrugarh witnessed a moving celebration of faith and womanhood as hundreds of women from across Assam converged at the Margherita Divine Retreat Centre for the Women Convention cum Jubilee of Women 2025. With the theme “Pilgrims of Hope: Women Journeying Together in Faith and Mission,” the event blossomed into a vibrant expression of unity, devotion, and the transformative role of women in the life of the Church.

From the very outset, the retreat centre was filled with prayerful energy and joyful participation. Women representing various parishes across the diocese came together in song, reflection, and fellowship, renewing their commitment to live and share the Gospel in daily life. The convention served not only as a spiritual assembly but as a heartfelt recognition of the women who sustain faith within families, nurture parish communities, and silently serve as messengers of God’s love.

A central thread throughout the convention was the reflection on Mary, the first pilgrim of faith, whose example of courage and surrender continues to inspire Christian women. Speakers highlighted Mary’s journey as a model for all women teaching perseverance amid trials, trust in divine providence, and strength in nurturing hope. Participants were encouraged to view their own lives as pilgrimages of faith, filled with both challenges and grace.

The convention overflowed with creativity and devotion as participants presented songs, dances, and skits inspired by the Jubilee theme. These performances transcended entertainment, transforming the stage into a space of spiritual storytelling. Through their artistic expressions, the women portrayed resilience in adversity, compassion in service, and joy in faith-filled living.

In between performances and discussions, moments of deep prayer and adoration drew the assembly into silence and reflection. The celebration of the Holy Eucharist became the heart of the event an offering of thanksgiving for the strength, grace, and unwavering faith of women who journey together in mission. Facilitators urged participants to see their lives as ongoing missions: to plant seeds of faith in their families, to heal divisions within society, and to become instruments of hope in a world clouded by despair.

The convention reached its spiritual zenith with a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Most Rev. Albert Hemrom, Bishop of Dibrugarh. In his homily, Bishop Hemrom praised the steadfastness of women as the “living roots of faith” within the Church. Reflecting on the words of Pope Francis, he reminded the gathering that true pilgrims never abandon the path, even when the journey grows difficult.

“A woman’s hope,” Bishop Hemrom said, “is not for herself alone. It becomes a light for her family, her community, and the Church. Every act of faith a woman makes becomes a seed of renewal for the world.”

As the convention concluded, the participants received blessings and words of encouragement, their hearts strengthened by shared faith and fellowship. The event closed on a note of gratitude both to God and to the countless women whose daily acts of faith continue to sustain the Church’s mission in silence and strength.

The Women Convention cum Jubilee of Women 2025 was more than a commemoration it was a movement of renewal. It reminded the faithful that women, as pilgrims of hope, continue to shape the future of the Church through courage, compassion, and unwavering belief in God’s promise.
