New docudrama reveals the reality of Catholic exorcisms

A new film titled Triumph Over Evil: Battle of the Exorcists is set to hit theaters for a one-day special screening on October 30, aiming to show audiences what a real exorcism is like, beyond the sensational portrayals often seen in Hollywood movies.

The documentary-style film, directed by Giovanni Ziberna, explores the Catholic Church’s teachings and procedures on demonic possession and exorcism. Ziberna, who once identified as an atheist before converting to Catholicism, created the project with the intention of providing an authentic look at how the Church deals with cases of spiritual disturbance.

The production has received official approval from the International Association of Exorcists, an organization recognized by the Vatican. The film features commentary from several experts, including the late Father Gabriele Amorth, one of the most well-known exorcists in modern Church history.

According to the filmmakers, Triumph Over Evil aims to educate viewers about the Church’s discernment process in identifying true cases of possession, emphasizing that exorcism is only used when psychological or medical explanations have been ruled out. The movie also delves into other forms of demonic influence, such as temptation, oppression, and infestation, offering a complete picture of the Church’s spiritual response to evil.

Rather than instilling fear, the film seeks to strengthen faith by highlighting the power of prayer, the sacraments, and devotion to the Virgin Mary as key tools in spiritual warfare.

Triumph Over Evil: Battle of the Exorcists will be distributed in the United States through Fathom Events and Goya Producciones. The 117-minute docudrama promises to provide both believers and skeptics with a deeper understanding of what truly happens when the Church confronts evil.
