Thamarassery: The Catholic Congress has demanded a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the recent incident involving a threat letter received at the Thamarassery Bishop’s House, urging authorities to determine whether the act has any links to terrorism or organized efforts to sow division within Kerala’s social fabric.
In a strongly worded statement, the Congress emphasized that any attempt to intimidate the Church or disrupt communal harmony must be treated with the utmost seriousness. The organization urged both the State and Central governments to step in promptly, ensuring that the motives behind the threat are fully exposed and that those responsible are brought to justice.
“Whether the intention was to frighten or divide society, those behind the letter must understand that Kerala’s people cannot be easily shaken or separated by such malicious tactics,” the statement read.
The Catholic Congress reiterated its role as a guardian of the Christian community and the Church, vowing to stand firm in defending faith, unity, and peace. It also called upon cultural, social, and political leaders across Kerala to stand together against forces attempting to destabilize communal harmony through misinformation and fear campaigns.
“Kerala’s conscience is built on centuries of coexistence, dialogue, and compassion. Those who seek to poison that spirit through hate or conspiracy will find the people united in resistance,” the statement added.
Reaffirming its commitment to peace and justice, the Catholic Congress warned that attempts to exploit religion for political or divisive gain threaten the state’s cultural core and democratic values. The organization urged citizens to remain vigilant and to uphold the legacy of unity, tolerance, and mutual respect that defines Kerala’s society.
