Diocesan eucharistic procession brings together thousands of faithful in Agartala

Agartala: Thousands of Catholics from across Tripura came together on Sunday for the 15th diocesan level eucharistic procession of the Diocese of Agartala, held at the Khumpui Academy Ground in Khumulwng, the headquarters of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council.

The event drew more than 7,000 faithful who joined in a day of prayer, song and devotion centered on the Holy Eucharist. The solemn mass was celebrated by Auxiliary Bishop Joachim Walder of the Diocese of Aizawl, who urged the faithful to live out their faith with unity and love.

The celebration began with the eucharistic liturgy, followed by hymns and prayers led by choirs from various parishes. The highlight of the day was a grand eucharistic procession that started around midday, with the Blessed Sacrament carried in reverence through the grounds as participants prayed and sang together.

Following the procession, the faithful spent time in eucharistic adoration that included thanksgiving, praise, and benediction before receiving the final blessing from Bishop Walder.

The annual event was organized by the Catholic laity of Tripura with the support of the diocesan youth commission and the Khumulwng parish. Organizers said the procession served as a visible sign of unity among Catholics and a deep expression of their faith in the real presence of Christ in the Eucharist.

The eucharistic procession in Tripura has grown steadily over the years, with increasing participation from parishes and Catholic communities across the state. It has become a powerful symbol of faith and fellowship among the small but vibrant Catholic population in the region.

The Diocese of Agartala continues to encourage such gatherings as a way to strengthen the spiritual life of its members and to bear witness to Christian values in the public sphere.
