DNA test confirms Umar Un Nabi as driver in Red Fort blast

New Delhi: A DNA test has confirmed that Dr Umar Un Nabi was driving the car that exploded near the Red Fort in New Delhi, killing several people and injuring many others. Police and investigation agencies said the DNA samples taken from human remains at the blast site matched those of his family members.

The explosion took place near Gate 1 of the Red Fort Metro station and destroyed several vehicles in the area. The blast is now officially treated as a terror attack. The government has handed over the case to the National Investigation Agency for a detailed probe, and security has been tightened across the capital.

According to officials, Umar was caught on CCTV in many parts of Delhi before the blast. Investigators also traced another car linked to him in Faridabad. Agencies are looking into the activities of a suspected terror module that may have planned a larger attack.

Initial reports said at least eight people died in the blast, and the number later increased as more victims were identified. The explosion caused panic in the crowded area and led to a citywide security alert.

Intelligence sources believe the attack may be linked to a foreign backed group. They are checking if the blast was planned as revenge for recent military actions against a terror organisation.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah have directed agencies to bring all those involved to justice. Top officials reviewed the security situation soon after the incident, and metro stations, airports and public places remain on high alert.

Investigators are now working to find out whether Umar acted alone or was part of a larger network. They are examining the source of the explosives, the route the car took, and the people he met before the blast. Authorities say more arrests are likely as the probe continues.
