Pakistan warns it cannot rule out war with India

Islamabad: Pakistan’s defence minister Khawaja Asif has warned that the country cannot rule out the possibility of a war with India, saying the armed forces are on full alert as tensions continue to rise between the two neighbours.

Speaking in a recent interview, Asif said Pakistan must stay prepared for any future conflict, claiming that India could attempt large scale military action, including border incursions. He added that Pakistan is not ignoring any threat and cannot afford to trust India under the current circumstances.

Asif’s comments follow a series of strong statements issued on both sides of the border in recent weeks. Reports in Pakistani media say security agencies have been monitoring increased Indian military activity. At the same time, Indian officials have also spoken publicly about the country’s readiness to respond to cross border terrorism or any provocation in Kashmir.

Regional observers say the exchange of tough words has deepened fears of another round of conflict between the two nuclear armed countries. While no immediate military action has been reported, the sharp rhetoric has drawn international attention, with several countries urging both sides to remain calm and return to dialogue.

Despite the rising tension, diplomatic channels between India and Pakistan remain open, although talks have not made significant progress in recent years. Issues such as cross border militancy, territorial disputes and recent disagreements over water sharing continue to strain the relationship.

For now, both countries appear to be maintaining heightened vigilance along the border as the situation remains sensitive.
