Colombo: India’s blind women’s cricket team created history by winning the first T20 World Cup for blind women after defeating Nepal in the final held at the P Sara Oval in Colombo. The team remained unbeaten throughout the tournament and completed their campaign with a confident seven wicket win.
Nepal batted first and scored 114 for five. India chased the target in just over twelve overs, showing steady teamwork and calm batting. The victory brought great pride to the players and coaches, who said the win was the result of months of discipline and unity.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the team and called them a shining example of determination. He said their achievement showed that true vision comes from courage and hard work. Other leaders, including Home Minister Amit Shah and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, also praised the team for inspiring the nation.
This world cup was the first global event for visually impaired women in the T20 format. Teams from India, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Australia and the United States took part. Sports officials said the win would encourage more visually impaired girls to take up cricket and dream big.
The Indian players expressed joy after the final and thanked their families, supporters and coaches. They said the victory was not only about cricket but also about inclusion and equal opportunity for all athletes.
